Finding compositions for Indian Classical Music can be challenging, as very few exist online or in bookstores. Thus I have put together a 203-page book entitled "Compositions for Bansuri". This book features 195 pages of compositions that I received from my guru, the great flute master Pandit Vijay Raghav Rao, from 1999-2008. The vast majority of these compositions were taught to me during private lessons, and all the lessons were transcribed by me in the exact form in which they were taught to me. I've listed the ragas covered in the book here.
Compositions for Bansuri is an excellent tool for anybody who plays Indian Classical Music, regardless of instrument or experience. Beginners will find the 7-page introduction to Indian Classical Music (which includes an explanation on how to read Indian Music notation) very useful, while advanced musicians will enjoy difficult ragas such as Jhinjoti or Darbari, and complex tals such as Ada Chautal or Matta Tal. See below for a list of ragas included in the book. This is an absolutely indispensable tool for anybody interested in Indian Classical Music.
The book is in PDF form, and when you purchase it, I will email you instructions on how to download it. It is a 228MB file (that's large!). Most people with high speed internet connection should be able to download it without problem, but if you experience trouble, I'll post you a CD with the file on it.
Why do I have it as a PDF versus a printed book? (1) Digital copies are easy to travel with, so you can take your compositions anywhere; (2) digital copies are easy to backup, so you don't have to worry your compositions setting on fire when you finally master Darbari; (3) it reduces your costs: book-binding and shipping 205-page books is expensive! (4) you'll receive it a lot faster, especially if you live on the other side of the world. So it's a win-win situation.
Compositions for Bansuri is only $20 total (no taxes, no shipping)...that's less than the price of a music lesson, and only about 10 cents per page of compositions! Considering that it took me well over 1,000 hours to create the book, that's a great deal.
I'll have the book available for sale here as soon as possible! Please sign up for the Indian Flute Music Mailing List to keep informed of its release.

I have never found a functional way to convey the intricacies of Indian Classical Music notation using computer software, and thus the compositions are hand-written. I have attempted to write everything as legibly as possible, and I do not foresee that anybody would have trouble reading the compositions. All the compositions are scanned at high resolution, presented in PDF format, and will print on standard size paper (8.5" by 11" or roughly A4: 216 × 279 mm).
